Young people in Indonesia have increasingly preferred employment in the office sector rather than the agriculture sector. There are 2 reasons why agriculture industries are less preferable.
The first reason is economical inequality in farmer communities and the second is physical loads among farmers. So therefore, this article will discuss why young people preferred to be a formal employee rather than a farmer.
The prices of agricultural producst are seems profitable in the market but it is in the opposite if people buy it directly from farmers. A big gap between farmers and sellers product prices can be found easily.
The different prices from farmers and markets are normal for accommodating delivery services fee, the farmers are the most disadvantaged if the price gaps are too big.
For example, prices of Indonesian rose farmers in Kota batu is 800-1500 rupiah and the prices in Kota Surabaya can reach more than 4000 rupiah, which is obviously strange and unusual. The flower middlemen are usually pressing the prices as they can for gaining the profit.

Furthermore, farmers are one of the a tough job in the world. they have to waking up in the morning for hoeing, plowing, showering, cleaning the farm and many other physical activities under the hot sun or even freezing winter for every day. It is obviously a rough job for most people in the world.
However, reality in Indonesia is devastating for most farmers. This industry is unprofitable and spends a lot of energy to work. It is understandable why most young people prefer low energy profitable work like an office job.
In conclusion, young people in Indonesia are prefer to choose an office jobs rather than an agricultural job because of profitable wages and low physical burden. It can be bad sign for Indonesian if farmers decrease. Agriculture products will increase because of higher demand than supply.
